Your Attitude Determines Your Direction

perspectives Aug 13, 2021

How do you perceive the world? Do you believe that people are genuinely kind or cruel? Do you think that things generally work out for you or do you always expect the worst? Do you have major trust issues in your relationships and with strangers alike?

Your settled way of thinking is typically reflected in your behaviors. If you regularly view life with a negative lens, you could have some limiting beliefs that are holding you back from living your best life.

Your attitude influences how you hear other people's words. Your preconceived notions may stop you from understanding what someone is trying to tell you. This may prevent you from seeing new possibilities and taking chances because you are stuck in a negative thinking pattern.

Negative thinking limits parts of our lives in ways that we don't even realize.

Self-limiting beliefs are so difficult to identify because they are a product of our life experiences.

But... do not lose hope. If you think you might be suffering from a 'bad attitude' that may be holding you back, there are steps you can take to become more self-aware and start shifting your preconceived notions about yourself and the world. (keep an eye out for my next perspective on what these steps include)

Once you develop self-awareness, your personal thoughts and interpretations begin to change. This change in your mental state will also alter your emotions so you can begin to see life through a more positive lens, you will begin to trust yourself and others more easily, and you will be able to find new opportunities and have the courage to pursue them.

Your mind will start to open...

You will develop possibility thinking. You will be able to have more meaningful conversations by asking questions. If someone says something that could have offended you, you will know how to ask for clarification as opposed to adding to your confirmation bias.

You CAN determine what direction you are headed. You CAN improve your attitude. You CAN live a joyful life.

You DESERVE to live your best life.
