How we see things

Just like art is subjective to the viewer, so is life.

How we interpret what we see, feel, hear, or experience in the world depends entirely on our preconceived beliefs. What someone may see as a problem, another may see as an opportunity.

Our preconceived beliefs come from what we learned as children, how past experiences made us feel, and who we turn to for advice. Holding on to preconceived notions as truth can lead us to negative and critical beliefs about others. We will also seek out people and situations that fit into this belief which leads to confirmation bias.

Critical thinking skills are what we use to challenge our preconceived beliefs to create an objective interpretation. Becoming a critical thinker involves keeping an open mind, listening to others, and considering why another perspective may also be valid.

If we gather our beliefs based on our experiences, just imagine for a moment how different you would interpret the world if you had grown up in a different family or even a different country. You would see, feel, and experience things from a much different lens.

We all have the ability to change our perspective and question our own preconceived notions. Especially if they cause us to be critical of others or create negative outcomes.

Do you see a problem as limiting or as an opportunity? If we understand our reality is a reflection of our mind, we can use that as a clue to practice our critical thinking skills.

We don't see things as THEY are, we see them as WE are
