Step Into the Unknown

Our past is what got us here. We are who we are from a collection of all of our experiences.
We cannot change the past, but we can keep the lessons and let go of the rest.
Letting go of the past may be difficult if we are not aware of how it is affecting us. For example, if you had a bad short haircut when you were younger, you may despise all short haircuts and say you'll never have one again. But what if it was just a bad style? If you went to a more skilled stylist, they could probably give you a cut that shapes your face perfectly and looks great!
This is only a simple example but it shows how our past experiences shape our beliefs. We may not even know that because we hate short haircuts, we could be missing out on a great new look. There are so many of life's experiences that contribute to the choices we make and what we believe. For our personal growth, it's important to be aware so we can assess our preconceived notions and challenge them.
It is hard to let go of the past because it's familiar. Even if it's negative there is a level of comfort with what we know.
Letting go means that we have the courage to take on a new unknown perspective.
When we practice letting go it does become easier. We go through a personal transformation and our general outlook on life is brighter. We stop letting our past hold us back from opportunities.
If we can be brave enough to step into the unknown the possibilities are endless.
