Letting Go

perspectives Jan 14, 2022

It is easy to hold on to hurt, anger, and shame. We often feel justified in doing so. Sometimes we hold on to negative feelings because it feels familiar to us. It can make us feel safe like a warm blanket even if it doesn't logically make sense or help us thrive. Holding on means we don't have to go out of our comfort zone, try anything new, or forgive.

To let go takes great strength.

Most people's harmful actions (even our own!) are coming from a place of pain. “Hurt people hurt people”. Once we are aware of this, we can improve our ability to heal, grow, and come at life embracing more possibilities.

The alternative would be that we would continue to carry the weight of the negative experiences. They would take up space in our heads and affect the way we treat ourselves and others. We would continue to be that "hurt person".

Letting go is an act of great power. Making this choice will free you to live life more authentically and with more joy.

You deserve happiness!
