Just Do
Jan 28, 2022Thinking about a project is necessary, but how much thinking is too much?
When we start to overthink, whether we are trying to perfect it, run through different scenarios, or are stuck on one piece of the project, we are essentially procrastinating from taking the action needed to move forward.
We might believe that thinking about something is the key to developing the best solution. We try to think of the best way to start it. But how much time is wasted on thinking about it? Until we take action and get things done, we can’t assess the reality of the task list and project timeline. We get stuck in speculation.
When projects spend too much time in our heads, we tend to feel overwhelmed. Instead, ask yourself "what can I do today to get closer to finish line?" This shifts your brain into action mode. You are breaking the project down without overthinking. When we start "doing" something to achieve any result our attention becomes solution focused. We start to see the reality of how things "are working" instead of wondering how things "will work."
It is taking that initial step that leads you to the next one. You got this!
