The Act of Caring
Nov 15, 2019I believe that the world needs more kindness. Though it is out there, we often get so caught up in our own worlds, we forget that others are going through stuff, too. Life can be hard sometimes, and there is a lot of negativity in our world that we are exposed to. Showing you care goes a long way and if we can focus on these little acts of kindness, we can collectively make the world a better place. Every person that we can spread some kindness to, we make their world a little better as we go.
Kindness is one of the qualities that I strongly believe in. I often am smiling in my interactions with others, trying to show people respect and understanding, and hoping to leave people in a better space than when we first connected. By doing this, I have received gratitude from others because I show I care. This is a trait I am grateful for because when it does happen, it leaves me in a happy space. It is very rewarding to be on both ends of these acts of kindness.
Think to a time when you might have been feeling negative, down, angry, or rejected. Or, what about a time you noticed a friend was in this state. What act of kindness do you remember that helped you through your pain? What act of kindness did you show your friend to help them feel better?
This week, try to connect with others and when you notice someone is in need of kindness, reach out by showing you care with a simple act of listening, smiling, giving a hug, or complimenting them.
Notice how this lifted their spirits, if only for a moment, but also how it lifted yours.
