Step-By-Step
Nov 29, 2019When we focus on our goals, depending on what they are and how much we have to do, it can be stressful. But if we can break down the goal into steps, it can be much easier to take in. I have always said, don't focus on 10 steps ahead, just focus on the 1-2 ahead of you.
Before I owned my home, the thought of buying one was overwhelming. I knew someday I wanted to own, but the process was too big. I decided to not worry about it, instead I just had it as a goal of mine, and eventually, each step I took led me to be a homeowner. I remember those feelings of overwhelm when I was in my 20's and thought "how will I ever be able to accomplish that?" I am so grateful that I was able to not stress about it and move on with my life. All of the steps I eventually focused on were not stressful and one-by-one, they led me here because I only focused on the next couple of steps ahead of me and not the whole process.
Our goals can shift and change. As we work towards them, we either gain clarity that we are headed in the right direction, or we gain an understanding that we may need to tweak what our end game is. With action, we gain knowledge.
If we focused on 10 steps ahead or the whole path, we may lose sight of all that we can learn along the way. By taking each step, we will reach our goals with the openness we need to learn as we go, but without the overwhelm.
