Someone Else's Beliefs

I have a friend who was able to figure out exactly where some of her Limiting Beliefs came from. As a child, she was one of the two biggest kids in her class. These girls were friends. My friend overheard the other girl's mother say to her daughter “Don’t let her borrow your bathing suit because she will stretch it out.” My friend was already self-conscious about her size, and this created for her a decade long thought cycle of negative self-talk that resulted in an eating disorder and ongoing insecurities. When she became aware that this childhood experience was the beginning of this limiting belief cycle, she could start to heal. What she realized was that she was internalizing the absurd fears of her friend's mother. She was finally able to release these irrational beliefs and take positive steps towards becoming healthy again.
Many people limit themselves to what they think they can do or what they think they deserve. We learned this limitation somewhere. Investigating the circumstance of where this limiting belief came from is necessary to be able to shift the belief.
