Make Room for Good Things

perspectives Oct 22, 2021

Serenity, joy, gratitude, pride, hope, laughter, connection.

These are the things in life that are worth focusing on. We only get this one life to fill with an abundance of good things.

By focusing on stress, fear, hurt, sadness, loneliness, regret, or guilt we don’t leave much space to allow for the good things.

Time is so limited. Life is so busy. If we fill our time with things that do not bring us joy, we will likely have regrets of all that wasted time.

If you are struggling to make room for good things, you can start by training your mind to pivot from focusing on the negative to creating space for the good. The first step is awareness. Take note of when you are thinking negative thoughts or feeling bad.

A simple reminder to yourself could be a sticky note on the bathroom mirror. This will help you continue to notice how you are feeling.

  • "What am I thinking right now"
  • "What am I feeling right now?"
  • "What can I do right now to bring me joy?"
  • "Don't forget to smile"

Once you realize how much time is focused on negativity, you will be able to practice finding more joy.

You deserve to focus on the good things and live a joyful life.
