Start Living Life to the Fullest
Aug 07, 2020One of the biggest regrets that people have when they are older is not enjoying life to the fullest. They regret sweating the small stuff, taking life too seriously, and wasting precious time with a negative attitude.
How many times are we saying to ourselves, "I can’t believe the year is over already, time flies."
Life is short, and it does go by very quickly.
Since this is the case, it is important to make the moments good. The good moments become great memories that you get to have for the rest of your life.
If negativity is bringing you down, sometimes a simple shift in perspective can change your outlook. If you are experiencing a bad situation, you can either tackle that issue or let it control your thoughts, attitudes, and behaviors, ultimately ruining your day. By tackling the issue, you are giving up worry, uncertainty, and fear. And...you are giving yourself more time to appreciate all the good around you.
We can decide if we're going to focus on the positives in our life or if we're going to allow the bad stuff to be our main focus.
Every morning we have a chance to pick what kind of attitude we want to start our day with.
One of my clients always said "every day is a great day." One day we were discussing this as he was sitting there with a cast on his leg and had walked in with crutches.
A few weeks earlier, he was playing basketball, landed wrong after a big jump, and his kneecap fell down and his thigh muscle curled up. I can’t even imagine the pain.
Now, weeks later he is telling me this story while still on the mend. He said, "even the day that this injury happened, it wasn’t a bad day, yeah something bad happened, but it was still a great day."
This belief he practices makes every day great for him. He focuses on the positive stuff around him even when days aren’t ‘perfect’. He doesn't let bad stuff cloud his attitude. This positive attitude allows him to have a great day, week, month, year, life.
