Learn to rest

perspectives Sep 10, 2021

Sometimes we need a fresh set of eyes to continue with a project or make a decision. Likely, if we are struggling with something, our brain needs time to process it a little bit more.

If you're doing a project and you're getting overwhelmed, it's okay to take a break. It's okay to go on a mini-vacation, take a nap, go for a walk, call a loved one, or do something else where you can zone out. It's amazing... not thinking about something for a while helps you come back to it refreshed.

When you feel like giving up, don't. Just walk away, press the pause button, and honor your limitations.

Sometimes we can feel trapped by an impending deadline. If we continue to push through, it can actually take longer than resting. When we do take the time to rest, we can return with a renewed insight, more energy, and a fresh frame-of-mind.

There may be times when you realize there are additional steps you need to learn. Other times, you’re going to come back and realize you already did a great job. When you feel stuck, just take the time to walk away and come back to it later.

Learn to get the rest you need, not quit. It's about balancing your to-do list with maximum effectiveness while practicing the self-care you deserve.
