Involve Me

HOW MANY TIMES DO I HAVE TO TELL YOU?!?!

If you find yourself saying or thinking this a lot, I'm here to share another approach.

Here's an example of bedtime routines:
The current approach is often telling your children the steps before bedtime; brush your teeth, get your pj's on, etc.

An approach I teach in my parenting course is to take pictures of each step of the bedtime routine and put it up in a sequence which helps your child to remember what they need for the nighttime routine.

The key is, when you are creating the process, involve them.

The goal is to have your children work out the sequence of the routine themselves.

They will learn on such a deeper level and the power struggle will be minimized.

What a fun way to have a genuine encounter moment (GEM) with your child!

When we lecture our children, we are telling them, and what we are telling them, they are forgetting. And then they don’t do things. They are not trying to be rebellious, they are not trying to be bad. We just need to involve them to really get them to understand and learn.
