Fixated or Flexible?

Setting goals and achieving them often resembles a road trip. The destination IS the goal. You have your directions, but you will also have unplanned detours. Sometimes these detours are to help you learn more about yourself along the way. These detours can also help you gain clarity about your goals. Either you gain more determination, or you come to the realization it's REALLY NOT what you needed after all. Sometimes, those detours help us find a different destination we weren't even aware of.

If we are trying to reach our goal with tunnel vision and no flexibility, we can have a lot of hardship on the way. We can become hard on ourselves if we perceive the detours as road blocks. This will only make us feel discouraged or even defeated as we struggle to follow the original directions we designed.

However, if we remain open-minded to unplanned detours as we go, we can learn so much more along the way. We will navigate those detours judgement-free, with curiosity and flexibility.

By accepting new information and a change in plans, our self-awareness will grow and our understanding of what's important to us will reveal itself. The growth and insight we gain will be something so valuable. In the end, no matter what destination we arrive at, we will be proud of ourselves and our accomplishments.
