Find a Reason

When we feel happy, it's easy to find reasons to smile. Even in good times, we may be so inundated with the day-in-and-day-out of our busy schedule that we forget to stop and smell the roses. And especially when we are going through tough times it can feel like there is no reason to smile at all. 

Finding bits of joy during the tough times is crucial to help us get through them. Being able to smile and find a happy moment during stressful times or during busy days is a great skill to practice. That's when we need to feel joy the most. 

If you're reading this and you are not finding anything that makes you feel positive, stop and take a look around you. What are some things near you that could bring you joy? Could you pull out some pictures to remember good times? Is there an animal in your home you could pet or play with? Is there a child nearby that needs some connection and cuddles? What about buying yourself some flowers?

If you forget to stop and smell the roses during your busy days, maybe it's time to set reminders. Write a post-it note on the bathroom mirror, your computer screen, or your car dashboard. Set your phone to buzz every couple of hours to remind you to take a break and find something that makes you smile. 

When we don’t take the time to stop and appreciate what's around us, life just passes us by.

When you find time to smile throughout the day, you will start to see more things to smile about.
