Be kind to yourself

perspectives Dec 17, 2018

have you ever noticed how you feel better after a good cry?

All too often, we hear things like ‘boys don’t cry’, ‘be a big girl’, or ‘crying is for babies’. Where did we get this attitude from? Unfortunately, it’s from these sayings that we hear as kids.

Crying is a release from the tension or hard emotions we struggle with throughout our days. Crying is sign of strength not a weakness, because it  helps the body to not only reduce emotional stress, but also to process it. If you feel the need to cry, don’t hold it back or push it down where it can manifest in other unhealthy habits and ways.

By processing our emotions, we are working through them and releasing them. The alternative is building up negative emotions that get stuck in our body until one day we explode or develop unhealthy addictions.

The holidays can be emotional and stressful. Remember to process your own feelings about the holidays in healthy ways so you don’t feel overwhelmed and can truly experience the joy that also exists during this season.

Peace & Love to you and yours,
