Be Good to Youself
Jul 22, 2022Be good to yourself. Always. You deserve to be treated kindly and with compassion. You matter in this world.
Self-care is too often overlooked by people who feel like they don't deserve it. When we don't take care of ourselves, we reinforce our negative self-talk. We are increasing our tendency to put ourselves last which increases our feelings of not mattering in the world. There is a direct correlation of the way we treat ourselves and the way we talk to ourselves.
The way we talk to ourselves doesn't often reflect all that is good about us. Our inner critic can bring up feelings of guilt and shame that deepens low self-worth. We tend to be our worst judge of our behaviors and shortcomings when others see us in a more favorable light. If we could see ourselves and talk to ourselves the way our most supportive friends do, we could feel better about ourselves and live happier lives.
By understanding no one is good at everything and by trying our best, we can stop beating ourselves up. It's okay to question our decisions in life, but when we focus on the negative or continue to doubt and criticize ourselves, this is not a good place to be. Everyone has strengths and everyone has weaknesses. We are all human. We are we are all doing the best we can.
Being good to ourselves nurtures our well-being. Essentially, we are telling ourselves that we matter. When we start to believe that we do matter, we can more easily focus on our wins and achievements. Then we will see more of the good in ourselves and we can minimize our negative self-talk.
The way you talk to yourself reflects the way you treat yourself. The way you treat yourself reflect the way you talk to yourself. These two concepts can be mutually beneficial or mutually harmful depending on where you are and where you decide to be.
